I finally got my first PP period at 13 1/2 months. I wasn't charting so I don't know if I actually ovulated...but because I got my period does that mean I ovulated? Why else would I bleed? I started charting again upon the return of my period. On cycle day 16 now and have had eggwhite cervical mucus for like 7 straight days and some crampiness the past 3 days. What are others experiences with there 1st couple cycles PP? Does your body typically take a few cycles to get back to normal? I am just wondering how long it is going to take me to ovulate because it is apparent that my body is trying!

Hi molcat!

It is possible that you ovulated, but just the fact of your cycle starting up again doesn't necessarily mean that you did. You'll have to go back to charting carefully to confirm ovulation.

While my cycles went back to pretty much the same length and O timing as before my pregnancies, my hormones definitely didn't and I still have way worse PMS symptoms now than before I ever was pregnant. I have started taking a prenatal vitamin again because I think I was suffering from B vitamin deficiencies. This is the 2nd month I'm taking them and symptoms are definitely less this month.

I've heard from other ladies whose cycles took some time to get back on track. From what you posted, it sounds like you are probably fertile again, so unless you're ready to conceive, make sure you are practicing some form of BC!

I got mine back at 7 months pp.  I expected it because I had ovulation signs a couple weeks before that.  My cycles were 43 days, 58 days, 27 days, 26, days, etc.   I was still breastfeeding a lot so for me it took a couple cycles to get back to normal.  Some people can go right back to normal.  It probably depends if you are still breastfeeding or not on how long it will take to normalize, since that has an effect on your hormones.

My cycles have changed PP. I got my period back at about 3 months PP both times. I chart cervical fluid but not temps at the moment. But my cycle length is all over the place and I have almost a week of EWCM. I also had terrible PMS after both pregnancies but it seems to have gotten better since I started taking an Omega 3-6-9 vitamin along with my multi and extra D vitamin.

After about 6 months from my first PP cycle with DD my cycles did regulate in length though my ovulation remained about a week earlier than it was before my pregnancy. It seems like it's also early now, although without temps it's hard to say.
