So.............. guess what? Still not pregnant, but I did have a doozie of a concussion the first week of December.

I expected my December cycle to be strange. It was. 28 days, but with only two days of a light flow.

January I had an +opk cd16, and a 27 day cycle, followed by a two day period.

I did not temp for December or Jan because my sleep cycles were so messed up due to the concussion, it would have been pointless.

February was 27 days, but I didn't get an +opk until 18cd, and my period started 7 days later and only lasted for 2.5 days. I've NEVER had a 7 day LP, and these 2 to 2.5 short and light periods are also unheard of for me.

Now here's March, and it's cd20. I got +opks on cd14 and cd15 like I normally do, but there's something missing: ovulation. It's cd20 and still no ovulation. This is very odd for me. I know that I am 43, but I also know from 2 different REs PRIOR to this concussion, that it's their best guess that I am a solid ten years away from menopause.

Normally get a +opk between cd13 and cd18. and then ovulate within 24 to 48 hours.

Please, please tell me (I know you really can't but I'd love some support) that this is temporary and not my new normal.

Hi RunnerJulia,

I've been wondering where you went to. I am sorry to hear about the concussion in December and I hope you are otherwise well.

As far as the wonky cycles, perhaps the concussion wreaked more havoc with your body than was apparent? Our bodies tend to kind of shut down those functions that are not considered essential when it is under stress. Perhaps your body is still recovering and the reproductive function is still out of wack. It sounds as though you may have experienced some anovulatory cycles or certainly cycles with "weak" ovulation resulting in a short LP.

My guess is that once your body gets the message that all is well, your cycle will return to normal. I certainly hope that is the case. All the best to you! Flowers

PS: I love your "kicked ass" category. You need more marks in that row Wink

DrDonna!!

Thank you. It helps to hear that. I'm hoping that this is temporary and NOT my new normal.

I've been wondering about you, too. I am so sorry about your loss. :( Broken Heart

Thanks, RunnerJulia.  I'm carrying on for only a short while more.

I'm taking news of this site shutting down as kind of an omen .... ugh.

This is a funky cycle for you, isn't it. Sorry to hear you suffered a concussion.

I could make a case for ROT on CD23 which would put your cover line at 97.7. Even without ROT your cover line could be 97.9. Maybe you ovulated and this is the start of your rise... time will tell!

...so my husband says to me yesterday, why do you have so many more clothes than me in the wash this week? And I'm like,

Because I haven't had the progesterone part of my cycle! I'm wearing twice the number of clothes you are because I'm FREEZING!! No wonder all those little old ladies move to Florida after menopause!! ARGGGHHHH!!! ;)

Heheh yeah we don't realize how much progesterone warms us up, until it is missing! A low-functioning thyroid can also cause temperature regulation issues. I started on a low dose of Nature Throid a little over a year ago, and I'm much warmer than I use to be.
